How This Started
Why James Golden Put His Name on the Truck
He spent fifteen years installing roofs for other people before he decided the selling part needed fixing.
James spent most of his career with the two largest roofing companies working this coast. Good crews, real volume, plenty of roofs. What kept nagging at him was the gap between the people doing the work and the people selling it — and the way that gap showed up in what homeowners were told versus what actually happened on their roof.
He'd come out of the car business before roofing, so he already knew what high-pressure selling looked like from the inside, and he hadn't liked it there either. Then he started competing against local roofers and realized the local guys were his old coworkers. Everybody on this coast doing the actual work already knew each other. The only thing missing was somebody running a company that way on purpose.
So Golden Roofing exists on a fairly simple premise. Everyone needs a roof. Everyone deserves to be told the truth about theirs, shown photographs of what's really up there, given a written number, and left alone to decide. The work speaks loudly enough on its own — that's the whole approach.

What GAF Certification Means
Certified to a Standard You Can Check
Manufacturer certification isn't a logo. It's a set of installation requirements your roof either meets or doesn't.
As a GAF certified contractor, our installations have to meet the manufacturer's own standards — how the underlayment goes down, how many fasteners go into a shingle and exactly where, how the ventilation is balanced, and how the penetrations get flashed. Meeting that standard is what lets your roof qualify for GAF's material coverage rather than a generic warranty from whoever installed it.
On top of that sits our own workmanship guarantee — up to twenty-five years. If it was our hands, it's our responsibility. That's the part that costs us money when we get it wrong, which is exactly why it's worth having in writing rather than in a conversation.
